  • I want a free software program that will …

Perhaps one of the finest lists of free software utilities for just about every imagineable use can be found at econsultant. I have tried most of these utilities, and can attest that they are very useful. Enjoy.

  • Google skips Memorial Day Art

Google has special logos to celebrate Arthur Conan Doyle’s Birthday, Mother’s Day, and Persian New Year…but not Memorial Day? They also don’t have one for Veterans Day, Flag Day, or Armed Forces Day. But, thankfully, they do have one for the Chinese New Year:

Google’s habit of celebrating holidays like New Year’s, Halloween, Christmas and Thanksgiving by altering its logo to match the season’s theme has been extended in the past to honor the birthdays of famous inventors, scientists, artists and musicians, as well as Earth Day and the Persian New Year, but on the day Americans honor those who died serving their country, it’s business as usual at the Internet-search giant.

  • Google and Dell team up to provide software on new PCs

Google and Dell Computer have partnered an agreement to pre-load Google bloatware on new Dell PCs:

Dell will factory-install the Google desktop, toolbar, search engine and homepage on desktops and notebooks shipping to consumers and small and medium-size businesses worldwide, said Dell spokesman Jess Blackburn.

It will also be installed on certain enterprise systems, unless the buyer specifies its own corporate software tools. Dell will begin shipping the new configuration by the end of May.

  • Lego iPod Dock

    Via Linuxmatt’s Flickr photostream:

I got bored and was tired of the standard iPod disconnect procedure: squeeze and pull. And not showing off my toy for the world to see. Then I remembered a Lego dock for Nintendo DS that I saw on the internet. So I pulled out an old, dusty Lego set and put this together. Yeah, it doesn’t look nearly as good as the iPod, but it works and was free. Heck of a lot better than nearly $40 dollars. I may eventually get the dock if I decide I want to use one of the dock-only features like the remote control, but until then, this is just fine. The two things at back swivel, so It should accomadate most iPod sizes, but I’ve only tested it with my 30GB iPod Video.
